Jamie Redknapp's scathing criticism of Man Utd and Marcus Rashford amid lacklustre Brentford showing

Man United were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford on Saturday evening

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp launched a scathing attack on Manchester United during their clash with Brentford on Saturday evening. The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium as their hopes of reaching the Champions League were dealt another huge blow.

Erik ten Hag's side thought they had won it in stoppage time when Mason Mount scored the first goal of his Man United career against the Bees. But the Red Devils couldn't hold on to the three points as Kristoffer Ajer found the back of the net in the ninth minute of added time to snatch something in the most dramatic of manners.

It's fair to say Redknapp was left unimpressed by United's performance, though, and at half-time he could be heard slating their first half showing as part of Sky Sports' coverage of the contest. The former England international even singled out Marcus Rashford for his perceived lack of effort.

"I think Man United fans will have probably been really looking forward to tonight after a brilliant result against Liverpool [in the FA Cup]. You thought they might have turned their season around," said Redknapp.

"They have been so bad tonight. I cannot believe the lack of effort, the lack of spark, desire to win individual battles, to make things happen in that team.

"We’re watching Marcus Rashford and he’s walking around like it’s a bit of fun out there. It’s the Premier League! You’ve got to try and win games. We’ve been amazed at how poor Manchester United have been."

The draw means United, who sit 11 points shy of the top four, have now won just one of their last four. As such, they'll be looking to set the record straight when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
