Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United have ‘made a breakthrough in the negotiations’ over the loan move for Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

The winger has been exiled to train with the youth-team squad by Erik ten Hag since claiming via a social media that the manager lied about his training performance in September, which had seen him dropped from the matchday squad.

As a result, Sancho has not been involved in first-team action for four months, and looks set to rejoin his former side on loan in the January window.

German outlet BILD now claim the deal ‘will go through’ and only the ‘smallest tax details remain to be clarified’, including a loan fee. That is should be resolved soon with the loan expected to go through ‘as quickly as possible’.

BILD add that fee could be as little as £2.6m for the player, who is expected to meet up with the Dortmund squad in their mid-season training camp in Marbella on Friday.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported something similar and wrote on X that a verbal agreement has been reached between the clubs, with only the final details to be ironed out. Among them includes whether there is an option to buy the player on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
