Jadon Sancho has revealed a pre-season conversation in which Marco Reus urged him to return to Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho did join Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season earlier this month after being exiled from the Manchester United first team. The 23-year-old fell out with Erik ten Hag after essentially accusing his manager of lying about poor performances in training, following the decision to leave him out of the matchday squad at Arsenal in September.

It was a fast fall from Sancho, who was Ten Hag's most used player during pre-season and started in the July friendly against his former side in Las Vegas. After the game - a 3-2 defeat for the Reds - Sancho shared a brief conversation with former teammate Reus on the pitch.

"That Vegas clip, he [Reus] was telling me to come back to Dortmund," Sancho told the club's YouTube channel. "That's inside information and he said 'Whenever you're ready bro I'm here'. I've always had it in my mind that if it didn't work out somewhere, BVB is a place I know and everyone knows me inside out. It's good to know the club and the players back me."

Sancho has enjoyed an excellent start to his Dortmund return, coming off the bench for his debut to set up Reus in a 3-0 win at Darmstadt. The winger then won a penalty at FC Koln on Saturday but despite his best efforts, was kept away from claiming the spot-kick ahead of regular taker Niclas Fullkrug.

Sancho's move to Dortmund is a straight half-season loan with no option or obligation to make it permanent. The Bundesliga club's sporting director Sebastian Kehl has already admitted it is unlikely they will be able to afford the forward in the summer.

United will hope that Sancho can rediscover his form with the German outfit so that they can recoup a larger portion of the £73million they spent on him in 2021. Recent reports have suggested the winger has already been offered to Saudi Pro League clubs for £50m.
