Jadon Sancho will return to Manchester United this summer and reports have suggested he could wear the red shirt again if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

Sancho was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund last month after being exiled from the United first-team by Ten Hag. The 23-year-old essentially accused his manager of lying about poor performances in training, following his omission from the matchday squad to face Arsenal earlier in the season.

Sancho's refusal to apologise for the social media post, which remained pinned to his profile for several days, saw him forced out and a temporary return to former club Dortmund was wrapped up early in January. He has since played three times, registering one assist.

The initial plan has been to secure a permanent exit for Sancho in the summer, at which point more clubs will likely have the funds to do a deal. But Football Insider reports that the winger could be reintegrated into the squad under new management, if Ten Hag is no longer in charge by that point.

Pressure has been growing on the United manager amid a disappointing campaign, with a top-four finish in the Premier League unlikely and elimination from both the Champions League and Carabao Cup coming before Christmas. There has been a marked improvement in 2024, however, and victory at Aston Villa on Sunday would make it four straight wins for the first time this season.

United hope to see Sancho flourish back at Dortmund as it will increase his market value come summer. Those in charge at Old Trafford hope to recoup a large portion of the £73million they spent on him in 2021. Currently, they hope to get between £40-50m, although that could rise with a strong run of form in Germany.

That money could then be reinvested into a new arrival on the left-wing, with links to Crystal Palace's Michael Olise surfacing in January. The 22-year-old penned a new deal earlier this season but a release clause will become active in the summer and a move to Old Trafford has been tipped.
