Jadon Sancho has reacted after his loan move to Borussia Dortmund was finally confirmed.

The deal, which will see the Manchester United winger spend the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Bundesliga side, was announced on Wednesday lunchtime following days of speculation. The Bundesliga side will pay an initial fee of €3.5m for loan, although that could rise to €7.5m based on add-ons such as appearances and team success, such as Champions League progress and qualification.

Speaking to the Dortmund website, Sancho said: "When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like 'coming home'. I know the club inside and out, I've always been very close with the fans here, and I've never lost contact with those in charge. I can’t wait to see my teammates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League."

There is no option to buy in the deal, with Dortmund set to cover the majority of the players wages, although no specifics have been revealed at this stage. Should the German side pay the full €7.5m fee, that will cover the entirety of Sancho's wages.

The move is seen as a positive one for both camps, with United moving on a player who has been frozen out of the squad, while Dortmund welcome back a former favourite, who could help the side in the second half of the season. BVB failed to win any of their last six games prior to the winter break, with the team dropping to fifth in the Bundesliga.
