Why Jack Grealish should cross the 'Carlos Tevez divide' and join Man United from Man City this summer

Man United are looking to rebuild their squad this summer, and they are desperate to improve in attack after a season where they were one of the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim has already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha, he is also working to bring in Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. However, the fact that the Red Devils are set to sell Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho this summer, means they will need to find replacements.

Jack Grealish has recently been linked to Man United after it was announced that he has no future at Man City. Pep Guardiola left him out of City’s Club World Cup squad, leaving his future very uncertain.

Back in 2009, one of the most controversial transfers in the Premier League saw Man United striker Carlos Tevez move to the Etihad directly from United. He is one of the few players to have switched between the two sides.

The move worked out for the Argentinian, as he scored 58 goals in 113 games for City, becoming one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. It may be that we are seeing history repeat itself.

Reports this week have said that Man United are keen to sign Grealish from Man City this summer in a move that could be beneficial to both sides. City would get their sale, Grealish would get a fresh start as a club that are desperate for attacking ability, and Man United would get a talented and proven Premier League winger.

Last season, the England international made 32 appearances for Man City, scoring just three goals and providing five assists. He has had previous success at the Etihad, but certainly hasn’t lived up to the £100m price tag that City paid for him from Aston Villa. The only issue with Grealish coming to Man United would be whether he would be willing to accept coming to a team without European football.

There is no doubt that now Grealish is available, he will have significant interest this summer, because everybody has seen what he can do when he’s playing his best football, both for club and for country.

Reported by SPORTBible, Everton, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle United are all in the market to sign Grealish this summer. The only name out of those teams that doesn’t have European football is Everton, but as things stand they look the most likely destination for the 29-year-old.

He could make a return to Villa where he became one of the best English attackers, or he could opt for one of Spurs or Newcastle, both of which will be in the Champions League next season. Either way, a move to Man United would benefit Grealish, Man City and Man United, so it would be a controversial, but strangely sensible move for the winger to undergo.
