Manchester United are back in action on Thursday evening when they take on Real Betis in the Europa League.

The Red Devils have already put a foot in the quarter-finals after a resounding 4-1 win over their Spanish opponents in the Old Trafford first leg, but they still have business to take care of in the South of Spain. Betis are a dangerous team, and especially in front of their passionate home support. That means Erik ten Hag’s men will need to put on a solid performance to see out the job, keen to avoid any further slip-ups following disappointing results against Southampton and Liverpool over the last week or so.

What has Pellegrini said?

Manuel Pellegrini said in his pre-match press conference: “The most important thing is to believe, we must play an intelligent game to try to reverse the tie. You don't have to try to score three goals in five minutes. We must be calm and try to do it with our fans from the beginning and until it ends”.

Reflecting on the first leg, he added: “That second half I would divide it into two parts. Antony's great goal and the 3-1 lead changed the game. We must avoid making mistakes, we must repeat what we did during that first half.”

What has Ten Hag said?

Speaking about his side’s demanding schedule, Ten Hag said in his pre-match press conference: “We can manage. We have players that can recover good in between games. We are in contact with medical and performance about what players can handle. We can mix it. When we are going into the final stages of the season, we can bring our best team.”

Asked about rotations, given the scoreline, Ten Hag added: “It is always serious and we will play our best team. We have to put up a team that can adapt during the game. We know our opponent can, as they have really good players. We have to be ready to battle with them.”
