Manchester United return to action this weekend as they look to make it back-to-back Premier League wins.

The Red Devils returned to winning ways during the week when they saw off Brentford, moving back into the top four. They now take on a struggling Everton side as they look to remain in the Champions League spots, and it is not likely to be a straight forward assignment, given the Toffees are fighting for their lives at this stage.

Ahead of the clash, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding Old Trafford.

Martinez admission

Lisandro Martinez has been speaking about how Man Utd stars reacted to defeat to Newcastle recently.

“I totally agree with him. It’s not possible when you lose this kind of game, especially against Newcastle,” Martinez said when asked about criticism from Ten Hag. “Now every game is a final and you have to play with passion, you have to be ready, you have to be sharp, you have to fight for these three points.

“If you don’t do that, I think it’s not [showing] respect for this club. You have to be always every game fighting. Fighting for the badge. We spoke, we spoke as a team. We know that it is not possible to play [the way they did vs Newcastle], especially these kind of games.

“Like I said in the beginning, we have to fight more than the opponent, we have to play with more passion, we have to play with more energy, you know? In the end, we have a really good squad, so we have to have everyone ready to play.”

Wright’s advice

Pundit Ian Wright believes Ten Hag needs to strengthen in three areas this season.

“That man [Ten Hag] has got to get everything he needs to try and do his job well and play the football he wants to play,” the 59-year-old said on his Wrighty’s House podcast “For what he’s done at Manchester United this season, he deserves that.

“I still don’t think the right-hand side of the team is working right now. You’ve got [Jadon] Sancho and Antony who are capable of doing unbelievable stuff. Antony had so many options [at Ajax] – he could cut in and target the No 9 or there would be a player overlapping him.

“He had so many different options to get the best out of him. The same for Sancho at Borussia Dortmund. You have two unbelievable players who can do loads of great stuff but they’ve not been put into a system where they can thrive.”
