Man Utd face Fenerbahçe and Jose Mourinho in the Europa League on Thursday night

Erik ten Hag says he is relishing the opportunity to face Jose Mourinho in the dugout later this week.

Manchester United are back in action when they travel to face Fenerbahçe in the Europa League on Thursday night, a match that will see them reunited with former manager Mourinho as well as a couple of former players. Fred and Sofyan Amrabat both play for the Turkish club, who also have former Premier League players Edin Dzeko, Çağlar Söyüncü, Dušan Tadić and Allan Saint-Maximin amongst their ranks.

At a time when there is intense scrutiny on Ten Hag's position, all eyes will be on the meeting of the two managers, an occasion the United boss is looking forward to already.

“It’s a big game for both of us," he told reporters at the Northwest Football Awards on Sunday evening. "I really enjoy facing him and playing against him. He has always had good teams, and he is a winner. He has won so many trophies, and I think he’s an example for many managers. I really enjoy to play against him."

Ten Hag was also asked about his side's start to the season and in particular the performances of Rasmus Hojlund following his impressive display in the weekend win over Brentford.

On the Danish striker he said: "He will always score. What is key is he will stay fit. He has picked up so many injuries in the first season and when he stays fit he will score goals, because that is proved by his stats."
