Manchester United are close to an agreement for the signing of teenage defender Diego León ahead of the January transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano revealed an agreement between United and Cerro Porteno is 'almost done', though the 17-year-old left-back will not be able to join United until next summer at the earliest. Under new post-Brexit rules, Premier League clubs are unable to sign overseas players until they are 18, which León turns in April.

Hide AdUnited have increasingly looked at South America as a market where there are bargains to be had, with Paraguayan youngster León viewed as one of the most promising teenage defenders in world football.
It is understood United will pay an initial fee of roughly £4 million, plus performance related add-ons, for the youngster, who will technically become the first new signing of Ruben Amorim's era in charge of the club.
Taking to social media on Thursday, transfer expert Romano issued an update on United's pursuit of the defender and teased that a full agreement on both transfer fee and player demands could soon be reached.
"The agreement between Man United and Cerro Porteno for 17 year old left back Diego León is almost done," he wrote. "Fee worth $5m plus add-ons, final details being sealed with Jason Wilcox taking care of it. Negotiations underway on player’s salary/contract. Here we go, soon."
