Man Utd are set to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in the final week of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in the final week of the summer transfer window.

United had already agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old midfielder over a proposed move to Old Trafford, with an agreement between the two clubs the last hurdle to overcome.

It is understood United will pay an initial €50 million fixed fee plus a further €10m in add-ons, after PSG held out for their €60m valuation of a player they signed for the same price only a year ago.

The deal to sign Ugarte will partly be financed by the sale of Scott McTominay, who is set to join Napoli in a deal worth €30m, while Hannibal Mejbri will also join Burnley on a permanent deal before transfer deadline day.

Taking to social media on Tuesday morning, Romano wrote: "Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United, here we go! Deal sealed between clubs after personal terms agreed in July. €50m fixed fee plus €10m add-ons will be the final package. Ugarte will travel to Manchester as he ONLY wanted United… and United only wanted him. Done."

United prioritised the addition of a midfielder before deadline day with Erik ten Hag eager to refresh the options at his disposal. Ugarte was always seen as the top target, while they also held an interest in Martin Zubimendi and Sander Berge. Ten Hag remains a huge fan of Frenkie de Jong but a deal was always viewed as highly unlikely.

United also looking to sell Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof before deadline day. Christian Eriksen was initially allowed to leave if an appropriate offer came in, though United might change their mind given how light on options they are in midfield.
