'He is...' - Sir Jim Ratcliffe uses three words to describe Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim
Man Utd made the big decision to sack Erik ten Hag and replace him with Ruben Amorim last month.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe says he is delighted to have secured the services of head coach Ruben Amorim after Manchester United took the difficult decision to sack Erik ten Hag in October.
Ineos initially decided to keep faith with Ten Hag after their shock FA Cup victory over Man City back in May and backed the Dutchman with a further £200 million in the summer transfer window.
However, Ten Hag lacked public backing from the board after a difficult start to the season and was eventually sacked on the back of United's controversial away defeat to West Ham in the Premier League.
United moved quickly to replace the 54-year-old with Sporting head coach Amorim, who has enjoyed an encouraging start to life at Old Trafford with two wins from four matches while attempting to implement a clear desired style of play.
It is still far too early to gauge just how much of a success Amorim's appointment will be and Ratcliffe insists the 'fantastic' coach will be judged on whether or not he secures major honours for the club.
"The objective is unchanged" Ratcliffe told United We Stand fanzine. "The measure of success unchanged. We always need to be challenging for the Premier League and the Champions League. The size of the task is considerable and to get there, a lot of things have to change at United.
"We have a fantastic coach. He's intelligent, thoughtful. We have a great chief executive in Omar. We're on the way, but this won't happen overnight. There are financial issues which we need to address because we've inherited a financial situation that only time will solve."
