Harry Redknapp praises 'world-class' Man Utd star amid Erik ten Hag warning

One Manchester United star has received praise from a former Premier League boss after his most recent performance.

Harry Redknapp has singled out a Manchester United star for praise after the weekend's dramatic FA Cup win over Liverpool. The Red Devils came out on top against their rivals to reach a Wembley semi-final thanks to a dramatic extra-time that saw Erik ten Hag's men score a final minute winner.

There we many impressive individual displays as far as United are concerned, but midfielder Kobbie Mainoo continued his superb form having been one of the standout players in United's revival over recent weeks. His form has seen him called up for the England senior squad, having initially been selected for the under-21s.

Mainoo has now received special praise from former Tottenham boss Redknapp, who told BetVictor: "I’ve got to say I thought Kobbie Mainoo was world class against Liverpool. It was an absolutely crazy game, but he had so much class, so much composure on the ball. I’m still not sure about Manchester United in the long-term but one thing’s for certain, this boy is some talent."

Redknapp also praised Bruno Fernandes amid recent criticism of the Porugal international, adding: "He might not be everyone’s cup of tea but what a good player Bruno Fernandes is. I thought he was terrific against Liverpool and showed so much heart and leadership for his side. By the end of the game, he was playing centre-half and could barely move, I couldn’t believe what I was watching! Every credit to the lad though."

United boss Erik ten Hag spoke about Mainoo after the Liverpool clash, praising the midfielder but warning him that he needs to maintain his high standards to stick around in his starting XI: "Incredibly good. But they [Garnacho and Mainoo] are just on the start of the journey, and that is also what they have to understand. They are now in the first team, but getting here is much more easy than staying here, and there's going to be a big fight for them [to do that].”
