Harry Maguire looks set to stay at Manchester United, according to fresh reports.

The Red Devils have been open to selling the defender for the majority of the summer transfer window, and he was close to joining West Ham United two weeks ago, only for the deal to break down.

The London club have reportedly made a second attempt to sign Maguire, who has fallen to fourth-choice centre-back at Old Trafford. Yet, the Times claim David Moyes has been informed that the player is not for sale.

An injury suffered by Rapahel Varane at the weekend means United won’t contemplate selling Maguire at this late stage in the window, while the absences of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have further reduced the team’s options at the back.

Meanwhile, as per the Daily Mail, United would also not consider allowing Maguire to leave on loan, with West Ham, Everton and Newcastle United all interested in signing the England international on a short-term deal. The outlet claim the Red Devils would be open to the idea of a permanent departure if the funds generated could be reinvested into the first-team squad.

United had been interested in purchasing a new centre-back earlier this summer, with Benjamin Pavard and Jean-Clair Todibo identified as potential targets. But the need to add a new left-back and goalkeeper are seen as more pressing concerns for United ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Altay Bayindir’s arrival is expected to be completed soon, with the stopper coming in for the outgoing Dean Henderson, who is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace. As for the Red Devils’ left-back search, Marc Cucurella, Nicolas Tagliafico and Sergio Reguilon have all been mooted as potential arrivals.
