Manchester United star Harry Maguire is closing in on a move to West Ham. According to reports on Wednesday morning, the clubs have agreed a £30million fee for the England defender.

Maguire has been widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer having lost his place in Erik Ten Hag’s side and been stripped of the captaincy, being replaced by Bruno Fernandes.

The Hammers earlier this week lodged a £60milllon double bid for the centre half and midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Scotland star’s future is less clear however with Fabrizio Romano reporting the Hammers have now agreed a deal, also worth £30million, for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse. United are believed to value McTominay at nearer £40million. Maguire though, will now be allowed to discuss personal terms with David Moyes’ Hammers with a view to sealing the move.

Maguire’s departure, if agreed, could prove significant for Ten Hag. The United boss has brought in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund already this summer, but needs to sell before he can buy again, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat identified as the next target for the club. Midfielders Fred and Donny van de Beek are also attracting interest, the latter from Real Sociedad in La Liga.
