Roy Keane has told Alejandro Garnacho that he should ‘get a job somewhere else’ if he can’t handle criticism from Manchester United fans.
The Argentinian was emotional during Sunday’s win over Leicester City and had to be consoled by team-mates after he scored the final goal in the 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. It comes following a challenging run of recent performances from the 20-year-old, who was named as a substitute at the weekend.

Bruno Fernandes said after the Leicester win that the United youth-team graduate hadn’t celebrated his goal as he feared he ‘has lost faith from some fans’.
It came three days after footage on social media showed a supporter criticising Garnacho as he entered Old Trafford ahead of the Europa League game against POAK. But that didn’t wash with Keane, who, in his usual apathetic manner, said the winger must be able to handle negative comments from supporters.
“If you can't celebrate a goal, there is something drastically wrong with this game," the former United captain told the Stick to Football podcast. "Whatever has gone on off the pitch for any player – it could be family stuff – you work all week, you’re playing the game to score a goal.
“When you score a goal, there should be nothing else on your mind. You've got fans who have travelled, paid fortunes to get there, and he [Garnacho] is on about people having a go at him.

Garnacho has scored seven goals this season and provided four assists from his 18 appearances. The Argentina international has played in every single United match this term and hasn’t missed a game since he was an unused substitute in a 1-0 win at Burnley in September 2023.
