With the 2023/24 Premier League season set to start next week, time is running out for supporters to select their Fantasy Football teams ahead of the opening match on 11 August.
When it comes to including stars from the English top flight, United players are a must. The Red Devils have some of the league’s best attacking players and also kept the most clean sheets last season. The Red Devils finished third in ‘22/23 and there’s hope at Old Trafford that Erik ten Hag’s side could better that in the upcoming campaign.
The Dutchman also has a year under his belt in the Premier League and has had a full pre-season to work with his team, unlike last year.
Meanwhile, United have a relatively kind start this campaign and face just one of the top seven from last season in the opening eight matches of 2023/24. The Red Devils begin with a home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, before facing Tottenham Hotspur the following week in North London.
But which United players should you choose in Fantasy Football? We’ve asked our football writer for his thoughts ahead of the new season, and he’s selected three players to include and three to avoid.
The below list is based on the Premier League’s official Fantasy Football game, the most popular version in the UK.
1. Luke Shaw- Pick
Should play every week and is likely to keep a lot of clean sheets. The defender offers a lot going forward and registered four assists last term. At just £5.5 he could be a consistent points earner.
2. Antony- Avoid
Despite being a regular in the team, Antony provided just six goal contributions in 2023/24, and there are several better options for £7.0.
3. Jadon Sancho- Avoid
Similar to Antony, the ex-Borussia Dortmund winger doesn’t provide enough goals or assist and might not even start every week.
4. Alejandro Garnacho- Pick
A bit of a risk given the options Ten Hag has out wide, but £5.0m is a great price for one of the league’s most exciting young talents. Pre-season has also hinted the Argentine is in the manager’s first-choice XI.
