Five ruled out for Newcastle ahead of Man Utd Carabao Cup final - gallery
Here are Newcastle Utd’s players that could miss out on this weekend’s Carabao Cup clash
Manchester United are eyeing up their first bit of silverware under Erik ten Hag this weekend as they take on Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final. The Red Devils last won the competition in 2017 but haven’t progressed further than the semi-final since.
However, the Magpies will be a huge test for United, with the Tyneside club only suffering two defeats in the top flight this season - both coming against Liverpool. So far this season the two clubs have looked completely even, playing out a 0-0 draw in October.
While United could be without the likes of Anthony Martial and Christian Eriksen, Newcastle also have a number of their own injury problems to worry about. Here is Eddie Howe’s latest team news ahead of this weekend’s final...

1. Matty Longstaff - ACL
Newcastle United will be without Matty Longstaff after he suffered a serious knee injury on Boxing Day. The midfielder scored both of his Premier League goals against Man Utd in the 2019-20 season.

2. Emil Krafth - ACL
Krafth sustained an ACL injury in August and won’t be back for Newcastle until next season.

3. Nick Pope - suspended
Newcastle’s number one will be absent for the final after he was sent off against Liverpool. Loris Karius will be in between the sticks for the Magpies.

4. Anthony Gordon - cup-tied
Gordon is unable to play at Wembley after playing in Everton’s Carabao Cup defeat to Bournemouth in November.
