Champions League-winning boss told to take Man Utd job 'at all costs' if Erik ten Hag gets sack

One Champions League-winning boss has been told to consider the Manchester United job if it becomes available.

A former Real Madrid boss has been told he should consider the Manchester United job should the opportunity arise this summer. This term Erik ten Hag has had a tough time attempting improve on last season, enduring another difficult start to the season and struggling to fully recover.

Things have improved at Old Trafford over the last couple of months, with United's uptick in form getting them back into the top four conversation, but whether Champions League qualification is secured or not, there may be a decision for Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazers to make.

Ultimately, Ten Hag has struggled to keep United improving, with no tangible improvement from last season despite significant summer spending. The board could yet decide that the arc is not trending in the right direction, especially if a desirable option becomes available.

One man who could become available is former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. The legendary midfielder has been out of work since 2021, vowing to take time off from the game, but a return could be on the cards in the coming months. And if he is offered the United job, former Monaco defender turned pundit Eric Di Meco believes it's an opportunity Zidane should take.

“But right now, I have the impression that the planets are aligning for him to get back to work, " Di Meco told RMC Sport. "But at some point, you’re going to have to make one or two concessions. Concessions mean, for example, going to a country where it’s a bit harder to learn the language, where the weather’s not as nice.

“For me, if there are all these big clubs and if United want him at all costs… United is still a monstrous club. Yes, struggling, but on the other hand it’s where you take the least risks. If you go to a club that has just won the European Championship, you’re also taking a risk. Life is a risk.”
