Former Man Utd player 'close' to Premier League move after honest statement on Old Trafford departure

One former Manchester United player is set to be on the move again after spending the first half of the season at Old Trafford

Sergio Reguilon could leave Tottenham Hotspur for a second time this season with Brentford reportedly agreeing a six-month loan move with their London rivals for the ex-Manchester United loanee. The left-back arrived at United on a season-long loan earlier in the campaign but the Red Devils cut the player's stay at Old Trafford short earlier this month owing to a break clause in the original loan agreement.

Sky Sports report an agreement has been reached between Spurs and Brentford for the loan move but the final decision rests with Reguilon who has yet to inform the two clubs of his plans as the Bees standby with a medical prepared. Reguilon is clearly not part of Ange Postecoglou's plans in North London as he looks set to leave the club for a second time this season.

His departure from Old Trafford was confirmed on January 4, with United releasing an honest statement confirming regular minutes were unlikely for the defender due to other players returning from injury and that a move back to Spurs was in the best interests of all parties.

After his departure from United, Reguilon wrote on social media: "It has been great to play for Manchester United and I just want to say thank you to the club. It was a privilege to play for this huge club. I wish all the best for the Red Devils."

The former Sevilla and Real Madrid player made 12 appearances under Erik ten Hag, with nine of those coming in the Premier League although he was only named in the starting XI four times before returning to Tottenham. He could play against United this season if he completes a move to Brentford, with Ten Hag's side making the trip to West London at the end of March.
