'Felt the same' - Liverpool captain breaks silence on Roy Keane criticism after Man Utd draw

The latest Manchester United news after Liverpool Premier League draw.

Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has spoken after Roy Keane branded him 'arrogant' for his comments after the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

The hosts dominated - registering 34 shots to United’s six - but Erik ten Hag’s men stood firm to pick up a point few backed them to get at the start of the day. It led the home skipper to bemoan “there was only one team trying to win” in his post-match interview with Sky Sports. But pundit Keane was less than impressed with the Dutchman’s take.

"A lot of arrogance coming out of him, dissing United like that,” the Irishman said. “He said 'only one team wanted to win, Manchester United are buzzing with the point'."

What did the Liverpool defender say in response?

Van Dijk insisted there was honesty but no arrogance in his words.

He said: “I like Roy Keane, if he said that then it’s fine. He is Man United throughout and I understand he could react like that but I felt what I said and there is absolutely no arrogance in that.

“Everyone who watched the game probably felt the same. We move on. We had the opportunity and we couldn’t score and that’s the frustrating part.”
