The latest update on Harry Maguire’s pending Manchester United exit.

Manchester United are gearing up for their Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday and while focus will shift to how they can fare in the new season, there is still transfer business to see to.

Erik ten Hag has enjoyed a strong window so far, bringing in the likes of Mason Mount and David de Gea replacement André Onana. After the arrival of latest recruit Rasmus Højlund, United’s summer spending has surpassed the £170 million mark and the club are keen on bringing in further additions before the transfer window slams shut.

But the Red Devils have some squad trimming to do as well. A number of senior players have been placed on the transfer list and one of the main exit links is former captain Harry Maguire. The centre-back has fallen out of favour under ten Hag and his departure is imminent, with the destination likely to be West Ham.

The Irons, who recently pocketed a huge profit from the sale of Declan Rice have had a £30 million offer accepted for Maguire as they look to bolster their defence. However, there are still some ends that need to be tied up before he can leave Old Trafford. Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation and why Maguire has not been given the green light to move on just yet.

Taking to his Twitter account, the transfer guru wrote: “Man United accepted £30m proposal from West Ham for Harry Maguire three days ago. Understand deal’s not done yet because Man United want to start talks and pick favourite candidate as replacement before letting Harry go.”

With both Maguire and Eric Bailly headed for the door, plus the release of Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe at the end of the season, the Reds are looking to add some news options to their defence as they hope to continue their strong run in the Premier League.
