Fabrizio Romano names £52m Man Utd player who is 'untouchable' under Ruben Amorim despite limited minutes

One Manchester United player is reportedly making quite the impression at Carrington

Manchester United gave their season a much-needed injection of energy after claiming a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils headed to Merseyside on the back of a poor run of form, with four losses in all competitions while they had not scored in their last three Premier League outings.

But they netted twice at Anfield after failing to score at the ground since December 2018. Ruben Amorim called for his side to maintain the levels they displayed against Liverpool after the game. He said: “I want to see my team play so much better but I think the most important thing here is the mentality. That is the key for everything. It doesn’t matter the place, the opponent. We need to face every day like that.”

Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot after the game as the United pair provided a stern challenge to Trent Alexander-Arnold, a test the Reds defender struggled to cope with.

Amorim ‘very happy’ with Yoro

While two United players were on the end of public praise from the Liverpool manager, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Amorim and his staff are ‘very happy’ with Leny Yoro’s progress. The centre-back is currently having his game-time managed carefully after he missed the start of the season through injury. The former Lille player fractured his foot against Arsenal during pre-season. The Frenchman has been described as “untouchable” after making his debut in the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal at the start of December.

The 19-year-old has now made seven appearances in the Premier League, starting twice. His limited minutes are to protect his fitness after such a long period out with injury. Amorim said of the player last month: "He is a special talent, we have to be careful in the first moment. We didn't have too many training [sessions] together. He has been training with a small group of players.

"He is really fast, a modern defender. He will be good when we want to press high and you leave a lot of strikers in this league one against one, he can manage that. He is very good with the ball so I am very excited. We have to be careful, we have to manage the load and minute in the beginning but I am really excited to see Leny Yoro playing."

The defender snubbed Real Madrid to make the £52m move to Old Trafford in the summer, having also been linked with Liverpool. Explaining his decision at the time, he said: "Yeah, for me, this is the biggest championship in the world. For me, the Premier League… this is where the football fully exists. So the fans, the level – because the level is crazy there, there is not an easy game - and, for me, the Premier League is the biggest in the world.

"This is a historic stage and I'm just really excited to play at Old Trafford, to be honest. So, yeah, this is incredible. I already imagined me on the pitch. I was with my family there, and they were impressed too. So, yeah, we took a lot of photos! You know, it's one of the biggest stadiums in the world. To be honest, I'm really happy to be here. I'm really happy to play for this team and I'm really excited to see you in Old Trafford."
