Manchester United can now breathe a little easier following a much-needed Champions League win on Tuesday night. The Red Devils scraped past Copenhagen at home, but the win was all that mattered after two defeats to start their European campaign.

Erik ten Hag’s men have now won three on the bounce following a disappointing start to the season, although their performances remain a point of concern. Attention now turns to the Manchester derby with City this weekend, but in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Sancho claim

Fabrizio Romano believes Jadon Sancho’s career at United is all-but over. “I think they [United] know at the moment that it’s not going to be a permanent transfer, that could be a loan deal with a buy option included,” Romano said on his Daily Briefing podcast.

“So, I think in January that they will be open to any opportunity of course. Of course, they would prefer a permanent transfer, that would be perfect to have their money back after what they spent on Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. But, at the moment, they know in January to find a top class club in Europe prepared to pay, and this is my opinion and not the official price, somewhere between £50m-£55m is not going to be easy. So we will have to see what happens there.

"At the moment, the people from Manchester United is very clear. It looks like it's 90% over between Jadon Sancho and Man United. We keep a 10% because we know that anything can happen in football, but as of today, it reminds us of the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo one year ago. The feeling is that Jadon has to find a new club in the January transfer window."

Ten Hag defence

Simon Jordan has urged United to stick with Ten Hag amid a difficult start to the season. “He’s [Ten Hag] had no experience of managing under this kind of scrutiny with some of these players,” Jordan said on talkSPORT.

“Maybe United have got to be prepared to say that whatever the micro-moment looks like, we’ve got the macro picture. That is, in three years’ time, we’re going to be where we need to be, and somehow, one way or another, the culture of Manchester United is going to be changed under this guy.

“They’ve become a Manchester United that accepts defeat, gets beat at home, seems to have a culture of players that don’t respect the football club and think they’re entitled to say what they want. All of that seems to be a culture that underpins a football club that has great illusions about where it should be and delusions of the reality of what it’s going to take to get there.”
