'The main target' - Fabrizio Romano issues update on Manchester United interest in Bryan Mbeumo

Fabrizio Romano has played down the suggestion Manchester United could make a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window. Ruben Amorim has prioritised the addition of both a striker and an attacking midfielder to his side at the end of the season, with Mbeumo one of those of interest to the club.
The Telegraph revealed over the weekend United are ready to 'join the race' to sign Mbuemo, who is valued at £60 million. The report claimed the 25-year-old is high on the list of summer targets, though there is also serious interest from Newcastle in his signature.

Hide AdMbeumo has scored 18 goals and notched seven assists across all competitions for Brentford this season and impressed in their 4-3 victory over United on Sunday afternoon. The Bees paid just £5.8 million to sign him from French side Troyes back in 2019 and he has played a key role in their rise to the top-flight.
Romano issues Mbuemo transfer update
Manchester United have identified Matheus Cunha as their top target for the attacking midfield role this summer, though The Telegraph claim a move for Bryan Mbeumo would be in addition to their pursuit of the Wolves star, rather than an alternative.
A move for Mbeumo could hinge on whether United win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League, but transfer guru Fabrizio Romano is not getting carried away just yet.
Writing in his latest GIVEMESPORT newsletter, he provided a brief update on the Brentford star and a possible move to Old Trafford. "As far as I know, the main target remains Cunha," he said. "For Mbeumo there will be many clubs involved, so it's an open race."

Hide AdMbeumo is expected to attract serious interest in the summer transfer window and earlier in the year, Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted the star could leave. “If the price is right – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it,” Frank told Sky Sports earlier this season. “I’ve said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren’t selling clubs.”
