Manchester United are back in action on Saturday as they look to put a week to forget behind them.

The Red Devils have lost back-to-back games over the last week, suffering home defeats to Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Galatasaray in the Champions League. Erik ten Hag is going to need to start turning things around after a disappointing start to the season that has left United 10th in the Premier League and bottom of their Champions League group.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

Centre-back situation

Fabrizio Romano has issued an update on United’s hopes of bringing in a centre-back during the January transfer window.

“There is a clear goal for the club. The idea is to bring in an important centre-back either in January or the summer.

“The timing will likely depend on Lisandro Martinez’s recovery but the crucial point to understand is if and when Harry Maguire will leave, as that will also determine what the club does and when in terms of centre-backs.”

Neves blow

United have been dealt a potential transfer blow over reported midfield target João Neves.

According to Jornal de Noticias, the midfielder is deemed unsellable by Benfica, who recently sold both Enzo Fernandez and Goncalo Ramos for big money, only solidifying their financial situation.

Neves has a release clause worth more than £100million and the report claims Benfica have no plans to sell regardless of who may be interested. The 19-year-old is dubbed the next big thing to come out of Benfica amid a constant stream of talent. He is still just 19 years of age, and he has already racked up 24 senior league appearances for the club, while also being a Portugal under-21s regular.
