The FA Cup final will be an all-Manchester affair for the first time in the competitions history

The FA Cup final will be a Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City on June 3 after the Red Devils beat Brighton on penalties on Sunday.

City beat Sheffield United 3-0 on Saturday thanks to a Riyad Mahrez hat-trick. City can win the treble and repeat the feat achieved by their rivals in 1999 while Man United could pick up a second trophy of the season after winning the League Cup in February.

It promises to be a gripping contest, after Man City beat United 6-3 in their first Premier League meeting of the season before Erik ten Hag’s men claimed a 2-1 win at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

Asked about winning the treble and if United fans should be scared, City boss Pep Guardiola said: “They don’t have to be scared, we are neighbours. Neighbours are always nice to each other.

“Being there every year means the mentality of the club - not just the players - is there. It is an honour to be in the FA Cup final on 3 June. We will be here. Today we played really good, everyone was serious.”

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has promised Manchester United fans that his team will ‘give everything’ to stop City matching their achievement from 1999.

“I understand, of course, the feelings from the Man United fans about it. We will do everything to give them that, to give them the second trophy; everything what I have, everything the team have, the staff have,” he said.

“We will give everything to get it done. We can do it because we prove it. It’s not an easy though, it’s a great team, but we also have a great team and great players. We can beat them.”

“We will give everything, and when I say everything, that is everything,” he added. “More than 100% you can’t do, so the fans can rely on that we will give it. We will do it against every opponent, it doesn’t matter who it is. We want to give that against City, we want to give the fans that.”

When is the FA Cup final?

The two Manchester rivals will meet at Wembley on Saturday 3 June. The kick-off time has not been confirmed but recent finals have seen an evening kick off.
