European club wants to 'complete' transfer window with signing of 'magnificent' Man United star

The Reds star is attracting attention in these final days of the European window.

The transfer window has closed for Premier League clubs until January and Manchester United made sure they squeezed every last drop of juice possible out of their planned signings. After recruiting Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro, followed by former Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, the Red Devils saw out the window with the Deadline Day announcement of Manuel Ugarte.

United agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain that could reach £50.5 million for the midfielder, but they will have to wait to hand him his debut, as he was not registered in time to be eligible to face Liverpool. The Reds also signed off on the last-minute exit of Jadon Sancho, who has joined Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.

However, this may not spell the end of the action for United, not while other windows remain open. Deadline Day reports claimed that the club rejected loan bids for both Antony and Christian Eriksen, as the Reds were unprepared to let the duo leave. New information has emerged on Eriksen though, and interest remains high in the midfielder.

According to Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg, Anderlecht are interested in signing Eriksen and CEO Jesper Fredberg wants to make a ‘persistent attempt’ to bring him to the club. His former side Ajax are also keen but the report claims that their budget is ‘limited’.

Ajax can continue doing transfer business until September 2nd but Anderlecht have the further advantage and have until September 4th to register European players. The report says that the Belgian side ‘could free up a budget’ to make a move for Eriksen if they choose to pursue his signature this window, however, they ‘probably won’t do so’ until the 3rd or 4th of September.

Fredberg believes that signing Eriksen will ‘complete’ Anderlecht’s summer business and if they fail to sign him, fans could continue to air concerns over lack of creativity within the team.

Eriksen is out of contract next summer and this could be the last opportunity United have to make a profit on the Denmark international. The 32-year-old signed for the Red Devils in 2022 on a free transfer after leaving Brentford and Erik ten Hag had a high level of praise for him following his arrival.

“I think he is a magnificent football player and I think the fans will enjoy watching him, because he’s creative, he has ideas. I think especially our strikers will also be happy because he’s the one who can involve them in the game,” the manager told the club’s website after Eriksen signed for United.
