Manchester United progressed to the last-16 of the Europa League on Thursday thanks to a 2-1 win over Barcelona at Old Trafford.

The result gave the Red Devils a 4-3 aggregate win against the leaders of La Liga, with a second-half fightback seeing Fred and Antony get on the scoresheet as United’s European aspirations continue. It means they’ll be in the draw for the next stage of the competition, which takes place a little over 12 hours after the second leg against Barcelona.

When is the Europa League draw?

The last-16 draw takes place on Friday 24 February at 12pm UK time. It will be staged at Uefa’s Nyom headquarters.

How to watch Europa League draw

The draw will be shown live on BT Sport 1. It will also be streamed on BT’s and Uefa’s respective websites and YouTube channels.

How does the draw work?

The last-16 stage sees United and the other play-off winners join the eight teams who topped the Europa League groups, with the latter including Arsenal. The group winners are seeded and will play the second leg at home, meaning United will play at Old Trafford in the last-16 first leg.

Which sides can Man Utd face?

The Red Devils can draw seven of the eight group winners, with Arsenal the exception as sides from the same country cannot be paired together in the last-16. United could potentially face Real Sociedad again despite playing the Spanish side over two legs in the group stages.

The six other sides include: Union Saint-Gilloise, Freiburg, Ferencvaros, Feyenoord, Real Betis and Fenerbahce.

Who could Arsenal face?

Arsenal will meet one of United’s fellow play-off winners. Despite winning the group, the Gunners’ potential opponents look much more daunting than United’s, and Mikel Arteta’s men could be paired with Juventus, Sporting Lisbon, Rennes, Union Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla or Roma.

When will the Europa League last-16 games take place?

The last-16 games will take place on Thursday 9 and 16 March, which means the Premier League matches against Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion will take place on the following Sundays.
