Erik ten Hag wants ‘five’ Man Utd transfers with Real Madrid star a ‘potential’ signing

Manchester United may be interested in bringing Casemiro to Old Trafford in the final weeks of the window.

Manchester United are running out of time to complete any transfer activity, with a little over two weeks remaining of the summer window.

The number of players linked with the Red Devils in the market is well into triple figures at this stage, with speculation only mounting after a disastrous start to the 2022/23 campaign.

ManchesterWorld understand Erik ten Hag is disappointed with the club’s transfer activity this summer. A source claimed the manager is frustrated with the lack of signings and even feels the club have not followed through on promises made before the window.

But with United expected to conclude more business before the market closes on 1 September, we’ve taken a look at three of the latest transfer reports surrounding the club.

Casemiro the latest link

United see Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro as a ‘potential reinforcement’ in the remaining weeks of the window, as per Marca.

The Spanish outlet claimed United have sent club officials to Madrid to negotiate a deal, but Los Blancos have yet to receive an offer for the five-time Champions League winner.

While a move for Casemiro seems unlikely, Real have bought younger midfield options in each of the last two summer windows, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga arriving.

United targeting five players

Erik ten Hag wants to make five new signings in five separate positions, according to 90min.

They also reported United remain confident of securing a deal for Frenkie de Jong, while Pedro Neto has been offered to the Red Devils by agent Jorge Mendes.

Right-back is also a concern with Ten Hag interested in Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, although Josip Juranovic of Celtic has been mooted as an alternative.

In addition to right-back, United want a holding midfielder, a box-box option, a winger and a striker before the window closes on 1 September.

Ronaldo departure growing more likely

BBC Sport have reported that Cristiano Ronaldo may be allowed to depart Old Trafford before the end of the window as he is impacting squad morale.

The striker’s departure could ‘trigger a significant improvement in overall performances’ with club officials alarmed at how drastically the mood around Carrighton has plummeted since Ronaldo returned at the end of pre-season.

It’s also been claimed the 37-year-old rarely communicates with team-mates and he has made no secret of his desire to secure a move away from the club.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has tweeted to say Ronaldo’s agent is ‘still working to find a solution’, and a last-minute transfer remains possible.
