Erik ten Hag gives injury updates on Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford ahead of Copenhagen v Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has confirmed Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford will be available for Manchester United’s Champions League encounter against Copenhagen on Wednesday.

The latter missed last weekend’s 1-0 win over Fulham with a minor knock, but was back in training on Tuesday morning and named in the travelling squad later that afternoon. After flying to Denmark, Ten Hag confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Rashford is ‘100 percent’ ready to play in the crucial group-stage clash.

As for Maguire, he suffered a head injury on Saturday following a collision with Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz. The United centre-back had cut above his eye and seemed dazed at a later stage in the match. However, Maguire played the full 90 minutes at Craven Cottage, a decision that brain injury charity Headway branded as 'concerning'.

Despite that, Ten Hag claimed United followed the correct safety protocols on Saturday and said Maguire is available for Wednesday’s trip to Fulham. “We did other protocols during and after the game,” said the Dutchman. “He is ready to play. He was fine in the game so no problems. He played a good game.”

United also received another boost on Tuesday with Victor Lindelof returning to training after he missed Saturday’s game against Fulham due to illness. Like Rashford and Maguire, Lindelof has travelled to Denmark.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag was asked ahead of the Copenhagen game about the latest news on long-term injuries to Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Casemiro. While the United boss refused to give specific updates on the quartet, he revealed the problems suffered by Martinez and Casemiro are likely to keep them out until the new year.

“I have some time schedules but it's always difficult to predict that. There can be setbacks during the rehab period. Casemiro and Martinez are strong injuries and I don’t think they’ll be back before Christmas.”
