Manchester United are back in action on Wednesday night when they take on Tottenham at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag’s men have struggled with inconsistency this season, a tendency that continued over the weekend with a home draw with Newcastle United.

United are three points off the top four as things stand, but they can close the seven-point gap to third place with a win over Tottenham this evening. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

De Jong links continue

United are still said to be keen on a move for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong. The Red Devils made attempts to sign the midfielder in the summer, but they fell short, with de Jong not wanting to leave Catalonia.

According to Sport, Ten Hag has already asked United to try to sign de Jong again in January, with United needing midfield reinforcements. It will be interesting to see if United make a move, and indeed whether anything has changed for de Jong.

King speaks out

Rangers star Leon King, who has been linked with United, has spoken out about his future.

“To be honest, I just concentrate on the job I have here. I do not pay attention to anything that is outside these gates and four walls,” he said, as cited by Football Scotland. “Again, I’d like to stay at Rangers for as long as possible. But that’s up to the folk off the pitch. I have representatives that deal with that.

“I’ve supported Rangers all my life, so to pull the jersey on and play in front of the fans at Ibrox is amazing. It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of. I hope it continues. It is amazing. To get the chance at such a big football club, it is surreal for me. And obviously my family are very proud as well.

“It is a massive opportunity. But it is up to me to take that opportunity. Obviously the boss has shown he can play players in different positions as well so it is up to me to grasp the opportunity with both hands.

“I only really see this as the start. Being a young one and getting flung into the first team at such a young age, and seeing the likes of Alex (Lowry) and Charlie (McCann) getting their chance as well, and being a Rangers fan as well it is amazing.”
