Ruben Amorim will hope to be backed with the players he wants in the summer transfer window, though it seems like he has already missed out on one dream Manchester United signing. Viktor Gyokeres was viewed as his ideal addition in attack but it looks like he is set to join Arsenal, with United back to the drawing board in their pursuit of a striker.
Matheus Cunha has already joined from Wolves, but it is increasingly likely he will be the only new face at Carrington when the players return for pre-season testing early next week. There is still confidence that United will complete a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, though many supporters won't believe it until they see it after a prolonged pursuit.
There is still plenty of time for United to have a hugely successful summer window, though the lack of signings is a frustration former manager Erik ten Hag will know all about. After he was sacked last year, a report claimed there were four players he wanted to sign, but they were deemed 'unrealistic' by the club. Mind you, he was still backed with £600m during his time at the club.
Here is how they might have lined up had he signed them all.
