Done, close, maybe & staying: The latest on 13 Man Utd players in the January transfer window - gallery

It’s already been a busy start to the mid-season market for Manchester United.

The 2024 January transfer market is roughly a third of the way through and it’s already proved to be a busy window for Manchester United.

Four moves regarding United have so far been completed and there could be further transfer arrangements in the coming weeks. A lack of financial wiggle room will limit the club’s capacity to spend big money and attract star names this window, though The club’s finances are tight after two summers under Erik ten Hag which have seen the Dutchman spend over £400m on additions.

The early Champions League exit hasn’t helped either, which will limit incomings in the second half of the season, while United’s current league position of eighth would see them miss out on Europe altogether next season and would further exacerbate the problems.

The incoming Ineos ownership also complicates matters as they will take charge of the football operations once the partial takeover is officially ratified. For now, that makes major decisions difficult, and any significant actions have to first be run past Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his delegation.

But while significant additions look unlikely, there could be scope for United to bring in players on loan - as they did last January. The decisions in the early part of the window suggest United may be looking to reduce the wage bill in order to free up finances needed for short-term deals, and more could still follow.

But what can United fans expect before the 1 February deadline, which deals have been wrapped up already and who is expected to remain? Here’s the latest on 13 United players who have been linked with January moves…
