Manchester United have agreed a move for Watford youngster Harry Amass with the player set to sign a four-year deal at Old Trafford, according to reports.

The 16-year-old is highly rated and represents England at youth level and was named on the bench for the Hornets’ FA Cup third round loss to Reading in January, when he was still 15.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports the deal to bring Amass to United is ‘done’ with the player poised to sign his four-year contract this week.

The Red Devils will need to pay compensation to Watford with the player under scholarship terms with the Hornets. According to the Manchester Evening News, Amass had been offered a two-year professional contract by Watford in an attempt to keep him at the club.

He would not have been able to sign the deal until he turned 17 under FA rules. He has already featured for the club’s Under-18s and Under-21s sides.

Amass is likely to be part of the England side that competes in the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia later this year. He made his debut for England Under-15s at aged 14 in December 2021 and is currently part of the Under-16 set-up with the national side.

In other news, Man United are set to miss out on a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot with the player poised to sign a new deal with the Serie A club.

Corriere dello Sport report he will pen a new contract on Wednesday after talks between the club and his agent. His current deal runs out this week.

Reports from talkSPORT earlier this week claimed United still held interest in the player as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his midfield options after guiding the Red Devils into the Champions League in his first season.

Rabiot has been a long-term target for the club, with their pursuit of Mason Mount also hitting a snag after having a third bid was rejected by Chelsea for the England star.
