Donny van de Beek has completed his medical at Eintracht Frankfurt and will join the Bundesliga club on 1 January, according to reports.

The Manchester United midfielder travelled to Germany on Tuesday to undergo tests ahead of a mid-season loan move, although nothing will be finalised until next month.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Van de Beek completed his medical and paperwork is now being prepared ahead of the deal. “Donny van de Beek deal, completed between all parties involved,” he wrote on X

“Documents being exchanged after the player completed medical tests in Frankfurt. Donny will be Eintracht player on loan from Man United starting from January 1.”

Van de Beek has played just 21 minutes this season for United after recovering from a serious knee injury last January. Erik ten Hag admitted earlier this month that the 26-year-old ‘has to play for his career’ and his initial loan move until the end of the season also includes a buy option.

Since his £35m switch to Old Trafford in 2020, Van de Beek has made just 62 appearances, only 23 of which have been starts. This season, the Dutchman has fallen behind youth-team graduates Kobbie Mainoo and Hannibal in the pecking order, and it’s nearly a year since he started a competitive game for United.

As for Frankfurt, they’re currently sixth in the German top flight and recently beat Bayern Munich 5-1. The Eagles could also end the season with European glory and face a two-legged play-off against Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa Conference League, with the winner set to progress to the last-16 of the competition.
