'Credit to them' - Roy Keane praises Ruben Amorim for not repeating Erik ten Hag mistake vs Liverpool FC

Man Utd can hold their heads high after they drew 2-2 against Liverpool at Anfield.

Roy Keane has challenged Manchester United to build upon their deserved 2-2 draw against Liverpool and back it up with a string of improved performances in the coming weeks.

United were well worth a point at Anfield on Sunday afternoon and could have even snatched all three when defender Harry Maguire blasted a shot over the crossbar in the final seconds of the match.

It was a huge improvement from the manner of their performances in recent weeks, but the display also raised questions why they haven't been able to play that well more often so far this campaign.

Even after the draw, United are still only 13th in the Premier League table with a minus-five goal difference and are only seven points above the relegation zone at the halfway stage of the league campaign. The point will count for little if they do not beat Southampton at home next time out and former midfielder Keane wants to see a continued improvement.

"Manchester United turned up. They showed a bit of passion. They did it at Manchester City recently as well," Keane told Sky Sports. "The argument to all of this though is that you can't just pick and choose when you want to turn up for a game at Manchester United. I don't think anyone would have predicted them scoring two goals today or nearly nicking it at the end. But the key is that they have to back it up."

In terms of positives, Keane was encouraged by what he saw from United and praised Ruben Amorim for learning from the tactical mistakes Erik ten Hag made when the two sides met earlier in the campaign. He added: "If you're United, you've learned from earlier in the season. They didn't take those same chances where Liverpool were pressing them high. That's credit to them, it's good tactical play. If that frustrates Liverpool, so be it. It's up to them to deal with that."
