The Blues will head to Old Trafford looking to improve on an abysmal record on the road this season after claiming just five wins from their 18 away games during what has been a difficult campaign. That has left Lampard’s side sat in the lower half of the Premier League table and even claiming maximum points from their visit to United and Sunday’s season-ending home game with Newcastle United will leave them short of claiming a top ten place.

Lampard’s cause is not helped by a lengthy injury list that has robbed him of the services of Mason Mount (pelvis), Ben Chilwell (thigh), N’golo Kante (groin), Reece James (thigh), Marc Cucurella (thigh) and Armando Broja (knee).

However, there was more bad news on the injury front for the Blues interim boss after defender Benoit Badiashile sustained an injury in training earlier this week. The former Monaco centre-back has been one of the few positives at Stamford Bridge in recent month but a groin injury has brought a premature end to his campaign and could see him missing part of his side’s preparations for next season.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference the former England star confirming the severity of the injury, saying: “It is a big blow for him; he’s impressed when he’s played. The injury is unfortunate and complex, on his hamstring; we are probably talking months rather than weeks. I hope the timing means he is not missing games over the summer and he comes back stronger.”
There was at least one bright note for Lampard after he confirmed on-loan forward Joao Felix will be available after recovering from a ‘small injury’ he suffered at the weekend.
