As for United, who came out in the second-ranked clubs, they were paired with Bayern Munich, Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
The draw means City will face Leipzig for a third consecutive season, with Pep Guardiola's side winning 7-0 in the home meeting last term. It also means Josko Gvardiol will face the side he left this summer. As for Red Star and Young Boys, it's the first time City have faced either side.
For United, the clash with Bayern is a repeat of the famous 1999 Champions League final that saw United win the treble under Sir Alex Ferguson. Meanwhile, it will also mean an almost immediate return to Old Trafford for Harry Kane, who joined Bayern in the summer, with United among the sides interested in signing the forward from Tottenham Hotspur

As for Arsenal, they'll face Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens, while Newcastle United's return to European football couldn't be much more daunting, and the Magpies were drawn against Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.
