Casemiro transfer latest: Man Utd make ‘rapid progress’ as £60m Real Madrid deal edges closer

Casemiro could be on the verge of becoming Manchester United’s fourth summer signing.

Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro appears to be closing in on a move to Manchester United.

After rumours began earlier in the week, several stories broke on Thursday afternoon claiming a deal could well happen, one that would see the five-time Champions League winner move to a side that won’t even play in Europe’s top competition this season.

Given United’s awful start to the new campaign , it makes the transfer even more remarkable, should it be completed.

But what exactly has been reported? We’ve rounded up the latest transfer stories on Casemiro…

What’s been reported?

BBC Sport claim United have approached Madrid with an offer of around £60m for the Brazilian, and a move would see Casemiro become one of the Red Devils’ top earners.

Meanwhile, The Athletic report that a deal is ‘progressing’ between the two clubs, but a move for Casemiro would make United’s chances of signing Frenkie de Jong ‘improbable’.

The Telegraph believe United are ‘closing in’ on a deal to sign the midfielder, with Casemiro keen on a new challenge at Old Trafford.

There has been ‘rapid progress’ on the transfer this week, claim Goal, and the transfer will begin a ‘flurry of activity’ before the deadline on 1 September.

As per the Manchester Evening News, Casemiro feels ‘marginalised’ by Madrid following the signing of midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer from Monaco.

It’s also been reported in Spain that a deal to take the 30-year-old away from Madrid is seen as ‘something real and evident’ now at the Bernabeu. Marca state Casemiro wants to accept United’s offer and Los Blancos will not stand in his way.

Journalist Guillem Balague tweeted to say Casemiro has not discussed the transfer with Real, but has spoken to his team-mates about the possibility of moving to Old Trafford. He adds it’s unlikely a deal will be wrapped up in time for the player to feature against Liverpool on Monday night.
