The Red Devils' chances of earning a win in the East Midlands have been boosted by the return of Casemiro, who was replaced in the second half of Saturday's 2-1 Premier League loss to Fulham. The ex-Real Madrid man clashed heads with Harrison Reed and was withdrawn with a visible cut to his head.

But speaking on Tuesday, Ten Hag revealed that Casemiro didn't suffer a concussion and will be available to face Forest. "Yes, it was bleeding and he had to come off. It was not in our advantage that he couldn’t continue the game, but he is available for tomorrow."

Casemiro is expected to start in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo, with Bruno Fernandes playing in a more advanced role. Casemiro has made 18 appearances this season and has started in the last six since returning from a a three-month injury lay-off in January.

With the 32-year-old back, it leaves United without seven senior players: Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund.

United will hope to get back to winning ways on Wednesday after a five-game winning run came to an end with that defeat to Fulham. The FA Cup also offers United their only chance of silverware this season, a fact that isn't lost on Ten Hag.

"When you are unbeaten for January and February and you lose one game, we know our aim is to win every game, as United you have to win every game," he said. "Obviously it [Fulham] was a poor performance for a defeat, we are aware of this and we want to stay in every competition so yeah, we have to win tomorrow. But that doesn't change our approach because that is for every game."
