Bryan Mbeumo makes 'exciting' Manchester United prediction and gives honest verdict on their system

Man Utd have endured a difficult start to the new season under head coach Ruben Amorim.

Bryan Mbeumo is adamant the system is not to blame for Manchester United’s struggles so far this season. United started the campaign full of optimism under head coach Ruben Amorim, but have quickly regressed to the same struggles that plagued them for much of last season.

United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town back in August and have lost half of their matches in the Premier League this season. It is still too early to judge them based on their league position, though it is fair to criticise Amorim's side on their disjointed style of play.

Amorim's favoured 3-4-2-1 approach has drawn plenty of criticism throughout his tenure, and scrutiny has increased this season after he was backed with £216 million in the summer window. Mbeumo was one of those recruits, and although he has looked bright, he endured a difficult return to West London as United were defeated by Brentford at the weekend.

Speaking after the defeat, Mbeumo was quizzed on his first few months in Manchester and what he made of their system under Amorim. "Of course, it's a little different for me, but I've been playing this system in the past as well," he told Sky Sports. "Obviously, we have a lot of things, but it's our responsibility to find the good things and to be better, I think. I don't think there is anything [wrong] about the system, it's just us improving in certain areas."

The bulk of United's summer spending was on their attack, with Mbeumo joined by Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford. The trio all look better suited to Amorim's formation than the options they had last season, and Mbeumo believes there is huge potential for their new forward line.

"It's exciting, because we get to learn to play with new players and it's always challenging, but that's what we like as footballers," he added. "Of course it will improve, we haven't played a lot together, so there are certain things that we're going to improve, and there are different types of players, but it's good to be with them."
