Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been speaking about Toney’s price tag and value ahead of the summer transfer window. Toney is one of the most highly rated strikers in the Premier League and is in with a chance of being named in Gareth Southgate’s final squad for the European Championship in Germany this summer.

Frank, speaking ahead of Brentford’s clash with Everton, said: “You should ask Phil [Giles, director of football] and Matthew [Benham - owner] about that because they will be even better to answer that question.

“I’m pretty sure the answer will be that there is no price. I think it’s all about the narrative. If you can score five goals in five then suddenly your price is through the roof. If a striker performs consistently over time then there is a good price.

“I know Ivan is a good player and he’s proven that many times. Last season he was fantastic, he made his full England debut and I think he’s a very good player.”

He added: “Let’s see what’s happening with Ivan, he’s a Brentford player but I think it is important to see the quality we have in the squad.”

What has ManchesterWorld previously reported?

United are understood to be one of the many sides who admire Toney as they look to sign a back up option for Rasmus Hojlund at the end of the season, though a deal seems unlikely given the large transfer fee that would be required to sign him.

However, if United do decide to pursue a move there is encouragement in the fact that Brentford would be open to sell if an appropriate offer comes in.
