Erik ten Hag and Unai Emery have both given fitness updates on their squad this week.

Erik ten Hag will be without four Manchester United players for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

The Dutchman confirmed in Thursday’s pre-match press conference that Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount won’t be back in time from their respective injuries, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be an option for the Red Devils.

"Aaron Wan-Bissaka, today, was training but then he dropped out," the Dutchman said on Thursday. "So I don't know, in this moment, where he is and what is the diagnosis. Hopefully, he is not too bad."

Meanwhile, United will also be without Lisandro Martinez, who has been ruled out for a minimum of eight weeks with a knee injury. "It is a big setback for Licha, he is very disappointed but he is a fighter and he will back stronger,” opined Ten Hag.

Anthony Martial is the only other absentee for United and the striker will be out until April as he continues to recuperate from groin surgery last month.

As for Villa, Unai Emery confirmed earlier this week that Ezri Konsa won’t be involved on Sunday, along with Jhon Duran. The pair join long-term absentees Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia on the sidelines, with Konsa’s injury a major blow as the ex-Brentford man has started every league game since Emery took charge in November 2022.

In better news for Champions League-chasing Villa, Pau Torres could be back following a run of six Premier League matches without a start. The centre-back was an unused substitute on Wednesday night as Villa lost 3-1 to Chelsea in the FA Cup and is expected to start if deemed fit.

Morgan Rogers should also be available once again after being ineligible for the midweek game, while Emery said Jacob Ramsey ‘isn’t 100 percent playing’ at this stage as he recovers from injury, so is unlikely to start on Sunday.

Doubts: Torres, Digne (Villa); Wan, Bissaka (United). Out: Mings, Konsa, Buendia, Duran (United); Martinez, Malacia, Mount, Martial (United).
