The World Cup winners are set to make a number of changes from the side that defeated El Salvador 3-0 last week, with the United youngster one of those under consideration to come into the starting line up.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni told Mundo Albiceleste. “We are going to make five or six changes. I would like to give (PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper) Walter Benitez the chance. That Garnacho can play among the starters is a possibility.

“When a new kid comes in, we need to see how he gets along and how he understands his team-mates. The training (sessions) are useful, but it is very important to see them in the matches and these friendly matches help with that. I want to continue to enjoy the process and all the moments.”

It is two years since Garnacho received a shock call-up to the Argentina side before he had even made a senior appearance for United.

The 19-year-old was born in Spain and previously represented his homeland at youth level. However, he is eligible to play for the South American giants through his mother, who were keen to poach him at a young age.

Garnacho has made four senior appearances for Argentina since then and it seems only a matter of time before he is rewarded with a full debut from the start.
