Manchester United were served a reminder that they still have plenty of work to do in their top four bid on Sunday.

West Ham got the better of the Red Devils at the London Stadium to deal Erik ten Hag’s men a setback. A big error from David De Gea caused the defeat, but the Hammers were unlucky not to score on other occasions, with United putting on a disappointing away performance. Attention now turns to this weekend’s clash with Wolves, and a win will be required to keep Liverpool from ramping up further pressure in the Champions League race.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding Old Trafford.

Shearer singles out star

Alan Shearer believes United need to offload Anthony Martial this summer.

“Anthony Martial has had enough time at Manchester United,” Shearer told Premier League Productions. “You don’t need to make any big decision on him because I think the decision has already been made or it should already have been made.

“He’s been there long enough, he’s had enough chances. He’s not good enough to take Man United to where they want to be. If he was good enough he would be starting on a regular basis and he would be scoring goals. He’s had his time and it hasn’t worked for him, that’s my opinion.”

Kane responds

Harry Kane has responded to a question on his future amid links with Man Utd and Tottenham’s struggles.

“You can’t disrespect any competition that you play in,” Kane told Sky Sports. “It’s one of those, if you end up in the Conference League and win it, it’s worth it. If you don’t, then people probably look at it as an inconvenience.

“But when you’ve been at a club where we haven’t won a trophy for 15 years, if we do end up in it, it could be an opportunity to try and put that to bed.”
