Ajax star and reported Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus is on course to move on this summer, according to his agent.

Kudus is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder has earned attention due to his fine form in the Netherlands, scoring 18 and assisting six so far this season. It’s for that reason he will be of particular interest to Premier League clubs this summer, especially given he could well come cheaper than English talent like James Maddison.

Arsenal, Man Utd and Newcastle United have all been linked with a move for the midfielder, who turns 23 ahead of next season.

And amid those links, Kudus’ agent, Jennifer Mendelewitsch, has dropped a bombshell.

Speaking to De Telegraaf in the Netherlands, Mendelewitsch said: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now. Now is the right time. He has ignored a proposal to extend his contract until the summer of 2026.”

Asked about interest from England, the agent added: “What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest in Kudus.”

As things stand, Kudus is under contract at Ajax until 2025, but it looks like his chapter with the Dutch club will end this summer, as long as interest develops into a serious bid. As for how much the midfielder will cost, that is to be decided, but Transfermarkt currently value the 22-year-old at just over £26million, even if it’s likely he will go for more than that amount this summer.

Ultimately, whether Arsenal and Newcastle United make a move for Kudus might depent on opportunities elsewhere, with the possiblity of Maddison and Jack Harrison becoming available for cheaper than usual if their clubs suffer relegation. As for United, Erik ten Hag could move to work with Kudus again after spending time with him at Ajax.
