Man Utd are looking to have two new signings in place before their pre-season tour of the United States.

Manchester United are understood to be getting closer to agreements that would see both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt join the club in the summer transfer window.

United are looking to revamp their squad this summer with a couple of notable additions and could even have the Dutch pair both in place before they fly out to the United States for their pre-season tour. They would represent the first two signings of the Ineos era.

A report from Sky Germany on Thursday suggests De Ligt has now informed Bayern Munich he wants to move to Old Trafford with 'immediate effect' and that talks are at an advanced stage between the two clubs. Although there is no finalised transfer agreement in place it is understood the Dutch centre-back has already verbally agreed terms over a provisional contract.

United are also waiting on a decision from Leny Yoro over a move to Manchester after United had a bid accepted by Lille earlier in the week. Jarrad Branthwaite remains a centre-back target for United, and a third bid for him could be placed in the coming days.

Another report from talkSPORT on Thursday also suggests Zirkzee has now agreed a five-year deal with United over a proposed move. They say the Dutch forward could complete a medical in the coming days and even be announced next week.

It remains to be seen whether or not United will pay a higher fee than the €40 million release clause in order to change the structure of the deal and pay it off in a number of instalments rather than an upfront fee. United's interest in the Dutch duo was always likely to advance following their exit from the European Championship after semi-final defeat to England on Wednesday night.

United are wary of cashflow issues as they look to complete a number of deals this summer and are targeting a record level of player sales in order to balance the books and finance their business. They would be able to conduct both deals for Zirkzee and De Ligt if they felt confident of recouping some of the money quickly with player sales. Donny van de Beek is poised to join Girona while Mason Greenwood is also set to leave the club in the coming days.
