Manchester United return to European action on Tuesday night when they travel to Switzerland to take on Young Boys.

The outfit from Bern aren’t the most well known club to compete in the Champions League, although they have become a regular fixture in European club competitions in recent years.

  • Their club moto is: “Our club is Young Boys, no matter what, forever.”
  • The team was founded in 1898 by four high school students and was initially a student team.
  • The club from Bern have won 15 Swiss titles, including the last four in a row.
  • Former Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner is in charge of Young Boys. The German has beaten United before, when the Terriers won 2-1 at the John Smith Stadium in 2017.
  • Striker Jean-Pierre Nsame scored 32 league goals in 2019/20, a record in the Swiss Super League.
  • Young Boys made it to the European Cup semi-finals in 1959, but were beaten by Stade Reims over two legs.
  • They made it to the Champions League group stage this season after eliminating Slovan Bratislava, FC Cluj and Ferencvaros.
  • The club’s notable ex-players include Kevin Mbabu and Hakan Yakin.
