6 Man Utd players who played their way into Erik ten Hag plans during Melbourne win - 3 that didn’t
The Red Devils put in another impressive display Down Under.
Manchester United continued their preseason preparations with a 4-1 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday.
After falling behind to an early goal at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Erik ten Hag’s side bounced back to great effect, with strikes from Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial sending the Red Devils in ahead at the interval.
Further contributions from Marcus Rashford, and an own goal from Edmund Lupancu rounded out the result - meaning that United have now scored four goals in each of their last two outings, following their 4-0 triumph over Liverpool earlier in the week.
Friday’s friendly also gave Ten Hag an opportunity to cast an eye over a vast majority of his squad, with no fewer than 21 players receiving minutes at the MCG.
But who impressed, and who still has some way to go before they can rest assured that they are in the manager’s plans?
We’ve taken a look below...

1. Marcus Rashford - In
Rashford may not have started, but a well taken goal shows that he is slowly starting to look more and more like his old self.

2. Anthony Martial - In
Another outing, another goal for the Frenchman. Could he be on the cusp of completing the most improbable of comebacks.

3. Eric Bailly - In
Bailly looks like a different player this summer, and if he can keep himself fit, he has a very good chance of forcing his way into Ten Hag’s plans. His assist for Rashford’s goal was sublime, but he must cut out his shakier moments.

4. Jadon Sancho - In
Sancho really needs a big season in Manchester this term, and the early signs are proving to be more than promising.
